The Thirteenth Week of Extra Ordinary Time, Year Six

Welcome to the Thirteenth week of Extra Ordinary Time. Year Six

Please open your Hymnal to page 3 and join in our processional  “O Lord Please Don’t Burn Us” Verse 1

O LORD, please don’t burn us,   Don’t grill or toast your flock,

Don’t put us on the barbecue,  Or simmer us in stock,

Don’t braise or bake or boil us,  Or stir fry us in a wok.

With foreign countries openly planning to kill our president and others working to destroy us from within, the prophets call us to somber reflection on the state of affairs in our country.  Please attend.

Good afternoon and welcome to Hurlingham Park. You join us just as the competitors are running out onto the field on this lovely winter's afternoon here, with the going firm underfoot and very little sign of rain. Well it certainly looks as though we're in for a splendid afternoon's sport in this the 127th Upperclass Twit of the Year Show. …  (the twits are wreaking havoc on the dummies) Vivian is there, Vivian is coming through, Simon's in second place, and, no there's Oliver, he's not necessarily out of it. There goes Nigel, no he's lost something, and Gervaise running through to this final obstacle. (they approach a table with five revolvers laid out on it) Now all they have to do here to win the title is to shoot themselves. Simon has a shot. Bad luck, he misses. Nigel misses. Now there's Gervaise, and Gervaise has shot himself - Gervaise is Upperclass Twit of the Year. There's Nigel, he's shot Simon by mistake, Simon is back up and there's Nigel, Nigel's shot himself: Nigel is third in this fine and most exciting Upperclass Twit of the Year Show I've ever seen. Nigel's clubbed himself into fourth place. (three coffins on stand with medals) And so the final result: The Upperclass Twit of the Year - Gervaise Brook-Hampster of Kensington and Weybridge; runner up - Vivian Smith-Smythe-Smith of Kensington; and third - Nigel Incubator-Jones of Henley. Well there'll certainly be some car door slamming in the streets of Kensington tonight.

Letter and voice over.

Dear Sir, how splendid it is to see the flower of British manhood wiping itself out with such pluck and tenacity. Britain need have no fear with leaders of this calibre. If only a few of the so-called working class would destroy themselves so sportingly. Yours etc., Brigadier Mainwaring Smith Smith Smith etc. Deceased etc. PS etc. Come on other ranks, show your stuff.

Open your hymnal to page 29 and join us in singing “Decomposing” Verse 3

Verdi and Wagner delighted the crowds,  With their highly original sound.
The pianos they played are still working,  But they're both six feet underground.

They're decomposing composers.  There's less of them every year.
You can say what you like to Debussy,  But there's not much of him left to hear.

Voice Over

(Scottish accent) Here on top of Edinburgh Castle, in conditions of extreme secrecy, men are being trained for the British Army's first Kamikaze Regiment, the Queen's Own McKamikaze Highlanders. (there is a scream and a piper jumps off, another one emerges and starts to play) So successful has been the training of the Kamikaze Regiment that the numbers have dwindled from 30,000 to just over a dozen in three weeks. What makes these young Scotsmen so keen to kill themselves?

Close ups of soldiers.

Scots Soldier

The money's good!

Second Soldier

And the water skiing! (he falls down with a scream)

Homily: Parishioners, this week saw an interesting run of articles emerge around a central theme – The Grave Danger Facing the Democratic Party in America.  Surprisingly it is NOT Donald Trump!  It is instead the Democratic Socialists of America, a wing of the party itself.  It all started, as things once upon a time tended to, with an Op/Ed piece in the Wall Street Journal (https://www.wsj.com/opinion/the-socialist-threat-is-real-7773676e?st=UX8n4y&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink).  “The Paper of Record’s” final word is that “the threat is real!”

This less than reliable spigot however led to a run down of the situation by the mighty “Zero Hedge” (https://www.zerohedge.com/political/meet-new-democratic-party-socialists-say-quiet-part-out-loud-about-destroying-america).  Zero Hedge rightly points out that they have been talking about this growing threat since last year, but they also point out that things must be pretty bad in Democrat Land if they are admitting this issue out loud for all to see.  The drum beat of the internal threat was then picked up by none other than the venerable (vulnerable?) Bill Clinton (https://www.zerohedge.com/political/bill-clinton-insider-warns-socialist-takeover-calls-probe-possible-dsa-foreign-ties).  The former president goes so far as to call for an investigation of “foreign influence” on the DSA and its threat to the US (Democrats).  If “Slick Willy” is calling for an investigation, you can be certain that the situation is MUCH worse than is being publicly acknowledged.

Finally, later in the week the “Sage of Stanford”, Victor Davis Hanson, used his Podcast to point out that the DSA is targeting the very foundations that made America Great (https://www.zerohedge.com/political/socialism-targeting-foundations-made-america-great  Of course VDH calls out the social cancer that the DSA really is).  My take on the Great Professor’s thoughts are that the DSA is a “Social Cancer” that the Democrats allowed to metastasize in their organization, and now it is devouring them.  Only now are the Democrats finally calling for assistance.  Hopefully for “the body Politic” it is not too late to ‘cut it out’.

Amen

Please join us in our recessional on page 3 of your hymnal “O Lord Please Don’t Burn Us” second verse.

Oh Please don’t lightly

poach us,  Or Baste us with hot fat,

Don’t fricassee or roast us,    Or boil us in a vat,

And please don’t stick thy servants, Lord,  In a Rotissomat.
